BLURB:
Kennedy Devereaux, owner of Kennedy Devereaux Designs, is a sight to behold in her signature pink colors, accented with custom designed jewelry. Intriguing enough that Joel Kingsley, the man building the new business next door, can’t help but keep coming around, just to get to know the woman in the designer clothes. He finds she’s not such a mystery, and his charm easily wins her over–until she finds that he’s forgotten to let her in on the secrets of his past.

Excerpt One:
Pink doors, crystal light fixtures, white shelves. Joel cupped his hands around his eyes to get a better look at the feminine interior of the store he stood in front of. Kennedy Devereaux Designs, the lettering on the door said. Costume jewelry, purses, and a few pieces of clothing were elegantly displayed on uncluttered shelves. He could see a small sitting area toward the back of the store with white chairs on a plush pink rug.
When he stepped back from the door, he inhaled. Could he even smell the store and all of its femininity?
“Can I help you?” A soft voice had him turning to see a woman, as feminine as the store, standing behind him.
She was the smell—sweet and floral. Soft golden hair framed a delicate face, and her lipstick matched the soft pastel pink of the doors he’d been looking through. Sharp blue eyes watched him as he stared at her.
Joel Kingsley was no idiot around women, but this one seemed to render him speechless.

INTERVIEW
Where are you from? Tell us a little about yourself!
I was born and raised in Colorado, where I stayed. I’m the happily married mother of five sons. I have been a published author since 2010 and in 2011 I opened my own publishing house to bring fresh voices to the fiction that we read. My husband, of twenty-seven years, and I run our family business. I am a martial artist, and lover of chocolate and craft beer.
Tell us about your book? How did it get started?
Kennedy Devereaux is the first book in the Devereaux family series. I am a contemporary romance / family saga/series author. I had just finished an 11 book series, The Walker Family, and it was time to build a new family that my readers could love. I knew immediately that Kennedy would be a feminine force to be reckoned with in her signature color pink and wrists of designer bracelets. Kennedy Devereaux is the story of Kennedy and Joel Kingsley, who is building the tap house next door to Kennedy’s very feminine boutique. Immediately there is attraction, but she knows that such a business will ruin hers.
How do you create your characters?
The characters usually come to me ready to go. But often, there will be many facets of others, or myself in them. I think most characters have a lot of me, especially he females. And the men, well, I have a lot of inspiration at home. Being the only female in a house of six men, it gives you a lot of insight into how they think and act.
What inspires and what got you started in writing?
The TV mini-series made me want to write. I fell in love with If Tomorrow Comes and Thorn Birds when I was just at the right age. I learned that they were not only amazing stories, but hey, they were books! That kickstarted my love of the creation of my first characters in notebooks that I shared with my friends. One day, I decided my story was epic enough to be a mini-series, and I began to write it. I wrote it for 22 years, and in 2007 I had rewritten it and submitted it so many times I was over it. I gave it an ending I could live with and shelved it. That year I wrote 12 more books, and by 2010 I was published.
Where do you write? Is there something you need in order to write (music, drinks?)
I can write anywhere, and I mean anywhere. I write on my iPad Pro, and the keyboard no longer has print on it. Usually I write at the kitchen table at 6am, but it can go anywhere with me at any time.
How do you get your ideas for writing?
Ideas are everywhere! I get them from songs, from stories people tell me, to things that have happened in my life. I’m very blessed to always have something to write about.
What do you like to read?
I’m a fan of contemporary romance, paranormal romance, and biographies. I love audio books, and autobiographies read by the author are my fave.
What would your advice to be for authors or aspiring in regards to writing?
Keep writing. The second book sells the first, the third sells the first and second…etc. Don’t edit your book to death. Let other’s read you. Research your path into publication and know what to expect. And always get involved in a writers group. Peers are gold!
