Interview

Where are you from? Tell us a little about yourself!

I was born in London, England, but now live in the United States. Before I was a full time writer I was a wedding planner. Very romantic job! I’m a keen tennis player and dabble in hot yoga when I’m not busy writing.

How do you create your characters?

I try to come up with interesting characters…people I’d like to meet and then put them in even more “interesting situations.” Writing erotic romance means we have to get up close and personal with our characters, maybe even more so than non-erotic. I feel like every one of my characters is a flesh in blood person (don’t carry me off to the loony bin yet!) with all the quirks, passions, dreams and aspirations we all have. And all the foibles and faults too. But damn, those heroes are good looking!

What inspires and what got your started in writing?

Setting is the number one thing that inspires me. I’m all about the setting and then the characters just seem to spring from there. Take Sail Away With Me, the cruise ship setting plays a major role in what happens in that book! Love Boat gone wild. J I got my start just writing very sexy short stories and then made the leap to full-length novels. Now I write both novellas and novels and love my job as an erotic romance writer!

What would your advice to be for authors or aspiring in regards to writing?

I can’t stress enough to just write what you want, don’t write to the market. If you love what you write the market will eventually come to you. “Eventually” being the key word there…patience, perseverance and more patience. Join RWA, keep writing and don’t give up!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Thanks so much for having me stop by to chat about my latest. I’m busy working on more books. Platinum Pleasures (Totally Bound) will be out in April, and Bride Undone (Ellora’s Cave) in the summer. Hope you’ll stay tuned for more toe curling sexy romance.

It was fun stopping by to chat,

 Kate
