Excerpt One:
Letting the magic come to me in the same way it had begun in the park, I smelled pine needles and mushrooms. At that moment, I wanted to push to get it deeper, but I forced myself to stay relaxed and let it flow through me while I told the plant how terrific it would be outside. Sun, water, and CO2 for photosynthesis, all were waiting for her if she would come out of the soil, and that my magic would help her grow faster, that she doesn’t have to wait any longer. The feeling of earth magic got stronger, and the inner picture before me was bathed in green. I said the words of the spell. After that, I focused again on the plant, imagining how the seed germinated, how the sprouting fought its way to the surface, how the seed leaves opened, sheeting the seed coat, and how the first leaves developed and opened.
Suddenly, I heard clapping. Losing my concentration, I opened my eyes. Umbra stood before me, a broad smile on her face.
“You did it!”
I frowned for a second before I looked down. The seedling stood before me, the seed coat next to it on the soil. Exactly how I had imagined it. I put my hand in front of my mouth, tears welling in my eyes.
“I did it. I did it!” I jumped up and down, clapping my hands. I was a real witch! I could do magic, after all! Full of joy, I embraced Umbra and circled her around while we both laughed.

Interview:
Tell us about your book? How did it get started?
The Nephilim’s Fate is the first book in The War of the Nephilim series, and it follows Alissia, a scientist who learns she’s a witch, and Nate, a Nephilim warrior. Their love is forbidden, and they have to navigate not only their personal feelings but also the ongoing battle between Heaven, Hell, and Earth. The idea for this book came from a combination of inspirations—Shadowhunters, which I wanted to make more mature and spicier, as well as my own D&D campaign that had a lot of deep character dynamics and fantasy battles. I wanted to write a story that blends romance, magic, and adventure in a way that’s gripping and heartfelt.
How do you create your characters?
My characters are born from the world I build and the conflict I want them to face. I start by thinking about their core motivations and struggles—what they desire, what they fear, and what drives them. Then, I flesh out their personalities, giving each character a distinct voice and backstory. For example, Alissia’s logical mind as a scientist was central to how she dealt with the discovery of magic, while Nate’s Nephilim heritage and his emotional scars defined his character arc.
What inspires and what got you started in writing?
I’ve always been a huge fan of fantasy stories, but I felt like there was room for more mature themes and character dynamics. Shadowhunters inspired me because I loved the concept of Nephilim, angels, and demons, but I wanted to see more grown-up relationships and explore spicier romance. That desire, combined with my love for world-building and the depth I found in my D&D campaign, pushed me to start writing The Nephilim’s Fate. Once I started, I was hooked on the process of creating a world from scratch and filling it with characters who felt real to me.
Where do you write? Is there something you need in order to write (music, drinks?)
I write at home, usually in a quiet corner where I can focus. I don’t need much to get into the writing flow, but I always have a cup of tea or coffee nearby. I need a quiet space to really focus and gather my thoughts. Silence allows me to dive deeper into the world I’m creating without distractions.
How do you get your ideas for writing?
My ideas often come from a mix of places—books I’ve read, movies I’ve seen, even conversations I have with friends. But the core of my ideas usually starts with “what if” questions. What if Nephilim were real and lived in modern-day London? What if a scientist discovered she was a witch and had to face a world she didn’t believe in? Once I have that basic idea, the story starts to take shape as I develop the world and characters around it.
What do you like to read?
I love reading fantasy, of course, but I also enjoy romance and historical fiction. I’m currently reading a lot of research material on medieval England for my next project, which is a time travel romance. I’ve always been drawn to stories that mix adventure with emotional depth, whether it’s magic, history, or epic love stories.
What would your advice to be for authors or aspiring in regards to writing?
Start early and keep learning. Writing is a process, and it’s important to get words on the page, even if they’re not perfect. You can always edit later. Don’t wait until you’ve “mastered” writing because that never really happens—we’re always improving. Also, start building your audience early, even before the book is finished. Marketing is a huge part of being an author, and it’s important to know that it takes time. Lastly, trust yourself, but don’t be afraid to seek out advice or guidance from other writers or editors.
