Where are you from? Tell us a little about yourself!

I reside in Missouri, but grew up in Texas. Wife, Mama, author, tiger lover, avid reader.

Tell us about your book? How did it get started?

Originally it started as just an experiment, just to see if I could create a shape-shifter. Then the characters took on a life of their own and their stories demanded to be told.

How do you create your characters?

Kaitlin just popped into my mind and demanded her story be told. Cadmon stepped into my mind and told me his story and why he’d be perfect for Kaitlin.

What inspires and what got your started in writing?

Inspiration comes from everywhere. It could be watching the kids play outside, or interact with the world, a question they pose, a movie character, a song I hear, anything. Most often it starts from a what if question that runs through my mind.

I started by writing fanfics, which got so popular that my readers suggested writing a real novel and I figured eh, why not? I always enjoy a good challenge.

Once I started writing, I couldn’t stop. I need to write, like I need my next breath.

Where do you write? Is there something you need in order to write (music, drinks?)

At my desk, lol. Green tea {preferably with mango in it} sweetened with honey. Music depends on the atmosphere I’m trying to create for the scene.

How do you get your ideas for writing?

Movies, characters, music, something the kids say or do, things that nag my mind, a beautiful sunset or sunrise, some of my own life experiences, watching things around me, anywhere.

What do you like to read?

I’ve been an avid reader since I was three. Mostly kid friendly stuff, and documentaries till I was eleven, then I picked up the western and historical romances, teen years were mostly Paranormal romances. Theses day I read most anything, but I don’t care for outright horror, or Sci fis. {Too many heavy handed descriptions.} Definitely Young Adult and New Adult. I prefer their quicker paces.

What would your advice to be for authors or aspiring in regards to writing?

Don’t give up. Be prepared to work hard and learn from your mistakes. Most importantly learn to accept constructive criticism gracefully. And remember you can’t please everyone. Trying to do so will only exhaust and frustrate you.

  • Can I simply just say what a comfort to find someone that truly knows what they’re talking about online.

You definitely realize how to bring a problem to
light and make it important. More people really need to check this out and
understand this side of your story. I can’t believe you aren’t
more popular since you most certainly possess the gift.

  • I assumed I would never wrap up my essay, but after reading
your web-site, it has spurred me on with a fresh take on my original
arguments. Thanks for such an informative essay!
