I really enjoyed reading this story by Lawrence. She weaves a beautiful tale about a young woman who thought she made a fool of herself by giving herself to a man who lied to her. She finds herself in a compromised situation, no protector, with a child and trying to make a living as a weaver. Even the man who took her maidenhead proves to useless and horrible, not even recognizing his child. Just when we think life couldn’t get any worse for this young woman, Emma, finds a champion in Lord Gilles. Lord Giles finds Emma very intriguing and more so than ever, he sees that her skills as a weaver are amazing. He invites her to weave for him at his castle. This is where we see the love slowly blossoming between the two, we see a kind loving man in Giles as well. He understands Emma is hurt, vulnerable, and he wants to protect her for the world. When she is threatened, he knows what he has to do to defend her.
Lawrence weaves a beautiful spell as she writes this. She makes us want to believe in beautiful endings and that there is true love out there. I felt like I was in the time period that she wrote and you can tell by the detail of her writing, how she researched. If you love happy endings, great characters and love story, then read Lord of the Keep.
Lord of the Keep
Ann Lawrence
Blush Sensuality Level: This is a suggestive romance (loves scenes are not graphic).
When Lord Gilles invites Emma to join his weavers, she sees it as her salvation. Emma lives at the base of Hawkwatch Castle, barely making a living with her weaving for herself and her daughter. But when she comes to work for Gilles, she weaves far more for the Lord of the Keep than the finest fabric; she weaves a spell of love about him.
Lord Gilles cannot deny his love for Emma or the jealousy he feels at other men wanting her. And when her life is threatened, Gilles knows he has only one true gift to offer—his life for hers.
