Markus’ Day-Walker, Darci meets a mysterious stranger who she instantly feels a connection to. She meets Will and not all is what it seems, he has something special about him. They soon find themselves inseparable. Will knows that he cannot live without her, but knows that his enemies will come out of the shadows. They could harm his newfound love, but all he knows is that he has to protect her at all costs. I love both characters who are willing to take on anything including things that go bump in the night for their love. It was very fast paced and very character driven. Those who love paranormal romance will love the dialogue, characters, and the setting. These are the characters you want root for because they take it all on for love. Markus’ work is beautifully written and I hope to see more of her work.

Interview:

Where are you from? Tell us a little about yourself!

Well, I am originally from Kent in South-East England; but I moved to Adelaide, South Australia four years ago after I met my fiancé. He’s an Aussie and we get married later this year! I began as an avid reader in my childhood and then wanted to write my own stuff. As well as literature, I love the performing arts, languages, history and travel—among other things.

Tell us about your book? How did it get started?

Day-Walker is a paranormal romance; a vampire story with a twist. It began as a thought: If some vampires could walk in the sun, what would others do to get that power? Then the idea of Will formed in my mind and the story slowly played out. Darci was a character I already had in the back of my mind. The more I thought about Will, the more she seemed to fit perfectly into his story. Everything just started to flow from there.

How do you create your characters?

They often begin when I am thinking of other characters. In my imagination I start to ask “what if…?” If you change this about one character, add an element of another, then a dash of a friend’s personality – what do you get? Sometimes they come from dreams too, or in that moment before you fall asleep when your mind wanders….

What inspires you to write?

I guess for me it’s the fact that I have all these stories; all these characters that I want to share with others. They become so larger than life that I can’t just keep them to myself. I want others to know them and love them and their adventures too.

What do you like to read?

I read a wide range of books actually. I can’t stand chick lit or true crime; but otherwise my tastes are pretty eclectic. I’ll read paranormal romance or urban fantasy one day, a classic the next day (or some modern literary fiction), and then maybe a non-fiction book on history or mythology after that. At present I’d say Paranormal and Literary Fiction dominate, but I don’t like to be too tied down by genre: If the book appeals to me, I’ll read it.

What would your advice to be for authors or aspiring in regards to writing?

This is the point when I always fear I’m slipping into cliché, but I would say the most important thing is self-belief and perseverance. I always said I wanted to write. For a while I doubted myself and my ability to do it; but then I got my break and realised it was possible to get there if I worked hard and put my mind to it.

Anything else you’d like to share?
