Title: Wind Chime Café
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 7, 2014
Review: If you are looking for a raw, tear jerking, contemporary romance with amazing characters, you’ll love Wind Chime Cafe by Sophie Miles. When I was asked to review this and read the blurb, I really wanted to read what would happen between the two main characters, Annie and Will. It was such an experience with all the emotions that you as a reader go through them as well. She also makes you feel like you were on the island and your apart of the residents that live there. Moss really does paint the picture so the readers can be in the moment with her characters. Will’s character was one of my favorites as he really bonded with Annie’s daughter. He also had an obligation to sell his family’s inn even though it threatened his happiness with Annie. When a potential buyer shows up for Will’s grandfather’s Inn, Annie’s past resurfaces also hindering the chance for Annie to be happy. Will love prevail? You’ll just have to find out.

Interview
Where are you from? Tell us a little about yourself!
I’m originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, but I’m currently living in San Diego. I’m very happy to be spending this winter at the beach!
Tell us about your book? How did it get started?
Wind Chime Café is about a Navy SEAL who returns to his hometown for the first time in ten years to sell his grandparents’ inn, and ends up falling in love with a woman who’s opening a café on the island. I’ve always wanted to write a small-town romance about a Navy Seal, and I had been reading a lot about veterans’ issues and PTSD before I started writing this book. When I was sketching out initial ideas for storylines, I realized I really wanted to explore some of those real-life issues in a heartwarming romance with a happily-ever-after ending.
How do you create your characters?
I create characters who I’d like to meet and who I’d want to be friends with. Before I begin writing, I spend a few weeks interviewing my characters. I have pages of questions that I ask them, and I jot down their answers in a journal until I get a really clear understanding of who they are.
What inspires you and what got you started in writing?
I started writing my first novel over ten years ago. I love to write. It’s my favorite thing in the world. I don’t need a lot of inspiration to sit down and write, but a fantastic movie or a beautiful book can sometimes spark a really exciting idea that I had never considered exploring before.
Where do you write? Is there something you need in order to write (music, drinks?)
I write at home, listening to music. I drink lots of coffee during the day and I usually wrap up my last hour of writing with a Guinness. J
How do you get your ideas for writing?
I start by sketching out my characters first. Once I figure out what they want/need, why they want it, and why can’t they have it, the story begins to take shape.
What do you like to read?
I’ll read anything, but my favorite genres are women’s fiction, small-town contemporary romance, and fantasy.
What would your advice be for authors or aspiring authors in regards to writing?
Read everything you can get your hands on and write every day.
