Where are you from? Tell us a little about yourself!
For a decade, I had been a volunteer teacher and a nanny, and I loved both jobs. From a young age, I have enjoyed reading and writing children’s books. I lived in various countries in Africa, and have traveled around different states in America. I learned a great deal from the communities I and it is where my inspiration comes from.
Tell us about your book. How did it get started?
“RJ’s Adventures in Temecula” is a children’s board book that celebrates Temecula’s city and community. It highlights thirteen beautiful and family-friendly places of the city! It all started with the desire to cherish the old memories of Temecula and create new ones! RJ’s Adventures in Temecula is Temecula’s first children’s book.
How do you create your characters?
All characters are fictional. They are designed to represent every child, culture and continent.
What inspires and what got you started in writing?
The community of Temecula inspired me to write this book. The unique, interesting stories they shared with me led to this book.
Where do you write? Is there something you need in order to write (music, drinks?)
I love to write from my balcony looking at the sky, the mountains and hearing the voices of children playing in the playground in front of my building.
How do you get your ideas for writing?
Everything around me, communities, and real-life stories are my source of inspiration. Children running after their pets at the public parks, parents sharing their childhood experiences with their children.
What do you like to read?
I like to read non-fiction and fiction books.
What would your advice to be for authors or aspiring in regards to writing?
Do not procrastinate, make time, enjoy the process! A community is waiting for your books

I am currently working on the second book in the RJ’s Adventures series. His next stop is Murrieta!

A resident of Temecula, California, known for its wineries, Mrs. Legre-Zigre was inspired by her own child to find and highlight family- and child-friendly attractions in her city. Some of these attractions are featured in her debut book.
